Default Dark Waters glitch, one propeller working?

Playing Darkwaters, I noticed after repeated runs on the surface and diving using the battery in succession, only the left propeller is turning leaving me at about 13 knots top speed on the surface. Any suggestions or knowledge what's going on there? I was never attacked and never further down than periscope depth.

i have not seen that behaviour. if you have taken no damage then there is probably a config issue where one of the screws' definition has a missing index/reference number which would be the cause of the inactivity. THAT is a SWAG...in reality it is hard to say at this time.

In an effort to troubleshoot this:
which boat model are you driving from which home base?
what is the date of your mission?
can you post your JSGME config?

Okay I reworked the list a little, same sub same port, deleted the corresponding folder in documents, same thing first time a crash dive and resurface, right propeller not working. Weird here's the revised JSGME
Is there something wrong with the applied mods?
I'll try narrowing it down further. Generic Mod Enabler - v2.6.0.157

First time I crash dive, and resurface, right propeller not working. I guess Something is really corrupted. I'm gonna reinstall the whole mod.

Okay, last try, I completely removed erased deleted everything. Reinstalled from a fresh copy of SH4 and same thing. First crash dive, then resurface, right propeller quits turning, turns fine submerged I could actually watch it as I surfaced with the outside view stop turning as I arrived at the surface. Okay I've tried it with the very base mod, same thing. First time I dive and resurface, right prop stops. Appears to be just the IX boat, when I try the other type it works properly. WTheck been playing darkwaters almost exclusively for a while, I've never noticed this before.

I made a quick test in a single mission, and my experience is that the starboard propeller takes much longer to start after switching from electric to diesels, but it eventually starts (tried again, it takes about 90 seconds). Port propeller worked perfectly.

No idea why this happens or how to fix it.

When charging the battery, one engine runs on the propeller, the second engine works to charge the battery - this means the second screw does not spin. As soon as the battery charge reaches 100%, the second screw starts turning, this is such a feature of the game.
You can turn off battery charging without waiting for 100% using a button in the interface HUD - the second screw should immediately start spinning.

you are correct. the recharge-battery status determines screw usage.

i have never noticed that previously.

i guess UBI thought it was "easier" to stop one screw as opposed to limiting power to both screws while charging batteries.

as i suspected, when playing the US side, the screw behavior is different.

Yeah now that makes sense! The reason I never noticed this before is I usually play baby level with no fuel or battery drain. Mystery solved! Thanks a bunch, it was driving me nuts.

under normal conditions, when driving with just one propeller turning, the helmsman would need to keep a constant trim on his rudder setting to offset the drive from one screw. Ubi didn't program that piece of detail. so, they were slick enough to alter surface screw performance when charging batteries, but not slick enough to program the same flexibility into the ship driving performance OR allowing the player-user-customer the ability to drive the two screws independently.

Yeah that would have been nice especially for US subs which did run on one screw often across the pacific.
