Was a combat between a flimsy Argentine Squadron and the powerfull Brazilian Empire Fleet. It was a victorious day for the Argentine navy.William Brown was the first Admiral of the newly formed Argentine Navy.Born in Ireland and argentine by adoption.A great patriot.

You need to watch the second part where they dive into the sea blindfold

Great video. You’re a braver soul than I.

I lived on a sailboat with a mast height of only 63 feet above water. I hated going up that damn thing to change the anchor light bulb.

20 meters is a lot.. i already hated climbing to 12 m for this or uncurling some ropes.. not funny.

Imagine climbing the yards on the Libertad in a storm, swinging 10 or more meters left and right.. and the last feet close to the first nest you have to climb with the shrouds going outward

Yes, great video.

How high was that mast? 10,000 feet Yikes!!

I can't imagine old time sailors climbing this in rough weather with no safety straps.

I’m scared to death of heights compounded by trust issues with anyone who was controlling the end of the rope hoisting me up to the top. Didn’t take long that I discovered what a ratchet block was and rigged a self raise & lower bosun chair. It was work getting up there but it helped with the anxiety.

You can always go up through the Lubbers Hole and avoid that outward lean.
