Das Boot (series)

About to finish up Season 3 of Das Boot. After three seasons I still can not decide if I hate it or not lol.

I enjoy the actual U Boat parts and the British escort portion, but the side storylines can be a bit bleh. Should focus more on the actual boat and crews.

I wish I could see it … I guess I’ll have to buy the dvd… it was on Netflix for a time but not anymore

I know only season 1 and 2 and will wait until I can see it here in free TV, because I don't have Netflix.


But I liked the first two seasons, even if I found the part in the USA a little long-drawn-out.

personally I don't waste my time with that... for having followed the first season from the beginning we are bored... and I weighed my words...

Lol Season 3 was decent, some nice U Boat battle scenes. There is a lot of potential but they waste too much time with other storylines, needs to focus on the boat and crew majority of the time.

Don't forget, the basic for the series are two different books from author Buchhein. And the second one, "Die Festung", describes the author's experiences as a naval war correspondent during World War II shortly before and after the Allied invasion of France in the summer of 1944. And this novel isn't really about submarines, like this first novel, "Das Boot".

That's the main reason after 2 seasons I stop caring about the show. And even the U-boats scenes were a little...
After finishing Stranger Things, will try to see season 3. have some much to see from this week.

Hey Bubblehead1980...
GrenSo talks about the work of the book..I haven't read it. But very often reading the book does not reflect the cinema in any way. Now I prefer to stay on a read document rather than the exaggeration of the cinema... in order to keep a vision of things...
as I said, I saw that the first season was released as soon as it was released... the commander's move made me laugh a lot, it's nonsense... my dear Bubblehead1980, you're encouraging me to go see season 3. .I'll see.. I don't like to stay on my end...I hope to find a minimum there, we'll see if it takes me..

I begin to watch with great enthusiasm since some German TV is excellent. Found however that Das Boot, the TV series, was an unwatchable, vomit-inducing mess of bad cliches, sloppy writing, boring characters, improbable situations and wooden acting. Life's too short to waste time watching garbage shows like this and I failed to make it through the first season.

Finish the 3rd season. Not bad, considering the other two. I liked the story from Das Land, since (and for my surprise) part of it is on my country. Do not know why did they film it in Prague, Prague is not Lisbon, but the decor, minus some small error where very good.

The Das Boot part, the first half was a again more clichés and etc, the second half was better. But I think the writers have to learn how things worked on a U-boat and pay more attention to U-boat history.

One scene they were at periscope depth, but even with those backlight depth gauge out of focus, the need was at 150m...nice long periscope...
Besides that, season 1 had a Kaleunt that didn't want to be or do war, season 2 a completely hardcore nazi/obey all orders and do your duty for fatherland and season 3 a boy that had to be because, etc.

At least the character had a good development.

Ray Stevenson is always cool and enjoyable to watch and the actor playing Her Forster, was also good.
