Years ago, Koko had a visit or a number of them with Robin Williams. Koko met with a number of celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Peter Gabriel and others. Gorilla's are smarter than most thought. Congrats to the the unit for teaching Koko Sign Language. Sadly, Koko passed at 46 in July of 2018.

^Koko passed the primate Mirror Self Recognition (MSR)test at age 19!!...these days I see myself in the mirror and, at first, think....DADDY??!!

At age 19, Koko was able to pass the mirror test of self-recognition, which most other gorillas fail...Very few species have passed the MSR test. As of 2015, only great apes (including humans), a single Asiatic elephant, dolphins, orcas, and the Eurasian magpie have passed the MSR test. A wide range of species have been reported to fail the test, including several species of monkey, giant pandas, sea lions, and dogs.
