I guess my reputation has made the rounds! Captains will run even if there's no water to run to!

edit: I could not see the posted image clearly but think you are on about ships sailing off overland. Never seen that one before. Someone once posted about ships 'crashing' on land. They were actually planes, once landed, using the sunken ship icon.

That problem arises when a convoy or ship's routing takes it across land that was not seen when the person writing the scenario made it, which is mostly due to the zoom level used. You cannot always see a land mass until zoomed way in. Also, some of the "auto zig-zag" scripting stuff used to do that, quite by accident. Anyway, when a person "plays" the scenario in the ME, the issue is not noticed because the game engine doesn't care if there is a land mass or another ship in the path, until the player's sub is involved in-game and within spawning distance. If you happen to be in spawning range at about the time the ship(s) passes over the land mass, they will spawn on land, or if close to the land mass and at speed, will end up unable to avoid, and drive up onto it. Similar can happen when there are too many ships in a harbor area. Take Truk - please! In some mods, there will be a three column Task Force routed through the atoll, at the same time that two merchant convoys are trying to get through the same area, and you'll end up with ships "pushed" up onto land masses, causing smoking, burning and massive quantities of explosions...
![]() The airplanes are dumber than a box of rocks in the game, not to insult the rocks, but... If a plane is set to fly at 500 foot elevation, and a "mountain" happens to be 800 foot, well... the pilot does not realize that he has to pull back on the stick and/or move it to one side or the other to avoid the "obstruction". Consequently, they "land abruptly", ala "hard impact". Sometimes, a very strange game. Such potential... ![]() ![]()
