Help Please - TWoS using Steam version SH5

Hi, I followed the instructions through to install TWoS, except I'm using the Steam version of SH5. When I go to play I get a failed to initialize (error code 51). Being completely new to this (and because I can read things like "doesn't work with steam") I suspect it is the TDW_GenericPatcher_v_1_0_168_0 causing the issue. But I could be way off base. Either way, can someone help me work through this? I like the game but I don't think I can continue playing the stock version. Regards and thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert in modding, but the instructions of The Wolves Of Steels says:

Properly activate TDW generic patcher and restore "TWoS 1.06_Snapshot.gps". The patcher, snapshot and install instructions are already placed in the main game folder (Silent Hunter 5/TDW_GenericPatcher_v_1_0_168_0).
How to properly activate TDW Generic Patcher.

(Steam version doesn't support generic patcher and therefore this expansion too)

Therefore, I am afraid you can't use TWoS with the steam version

That is why you need to do the STEAM conversion or purchase a different format.

That got the game running fine. Now having some issues with the game not recognizing mouse movements and clicks. For example, I'm pretty sure I should just be able to click from a distance to pass through a hatch, but it makes me move forward using the keyboard. Also can't turn left or right at all. Will have to look around for answers unless you happen to have heard of this kind of issue. Thanks. fwiw I used to play using the same setup (type of mouse) so it is a little puzzling. But thanks for pointing out the previous solution. Kind of sad that Steam gibbles the actual exe.

Hi
You need to use W-A-S-D to move around the boat.
Arrow keys to move around the maps.
F1 will give you most of the key functions.

I can't seem to get the Steam work around to work because I cannot run the installshield thing the guide has you download. I also got the impression you're supposed to run installshield and load the download from there, but I can't find any trace of installshield (as far as being able to open it as a program) in Windows 10. Anyone know how to make it work in Win10?
