nvidia control panel not displaying

could not find any mention of Nvidia on search, which suprises me, but reckon someone will know..

Its icon disappeared from tasbar ( windows 7 ), the icon in control panel does not open, there is nothing in registry settings. I downloaded Geforce Experience in the hope it would rectify, it did not, so I wonder if the control panel has been quietly shelved because nvidia want us all to use GE ( which I do not like). Anyone know please, or have same experience and found a solution?
Yes it is in Services, yes I have the latest driver..
