Default SH4 Gold Edition

Recently I've seen a copy of SH4 Gold Edition, could it be modded smoothly as the old-school SH4+UM ? Thanx a lot !

Smoother... so long as you don't install it in the Program Files directories... You just can't run any mods for SH4 v1.4 in it...

Just to get it straight - so long as my Steam games are installed anywhere except the default folder, SH4+UBM can be modded like how we used to before Steam became a juggernaut?
What program is used for managing mods? Is it still JSGME?

You manage your Steam install from your Steam account online, choosing a different folder than the usual install routine does, such as "C:\Games\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific", then use JSGME for the modding, as usual. It is advisable to read up on and use RR's SH4CMS utility, currently at v1.5, first, prior to doing any playing or modding...
