Oh well, I have been in sub-sims since the earliest MicroProse versions on Atari. (Big deal) But, I really found what I was waiting for in Silent Hunter III. I had tons of mods to make the game look like THE MOVIE. I loved the random style of the missions. Not sure why I got away from it (probably career), but when SH5 came out, I was all over that. I soon discovered that the missions were scripted and you could get on the net for answers if you got stuck on one. I Hated this. Still, the game looked pretty cool and I had some fun but, it got old fast. So, I got a way from that. Now, I'm interested again. So, the question seems to be, whether to go back to III or restart 5? Forgot to mention, I thought I'd to ahead in the mean-time and play SH5 (from Steam) and it won't run due to some uplay thing. Turns out, III has issues with Steam, with newer OSs, etc. I haven't tried 5 yet with it's scripted nature. Also, the mods to make either game better were a nightmare that I was ok to deal with 15 years ago but, not now. That doesn't mean I want a simple or sandbox game. I'm just hoping for some plug and play SH5 with dynamic missions. ![]() Any ideas? |
