Hey guys! Boy! Havent played silent hunter in a looong while. Decided to check out the state of SH5 so installed The Wolves of Steel megamod.
Now, my issue is that when I have visual persicope contact with my target, I open up the target recognition manual, but when I press "Send mast height to TDC" the input doesn't go trough, the target remains as unidentified and I cannot use the stadimeter to determine range. Am i hit by some innate SH5 bug, or this is some WoS peculiarity? Thanks a bunch! |

Hi kazeko
Lock the target first by using the space bar. This action will open the TDC If you are using the TWOS - Wind and Smoke addon mod you can now identify the target. Use the E key to open up charts and the Recognition Manual. Send the mast height to the TDC. You can leave the Rec Manual open in case you need it again by pressing the E key again Stadimeter ready to be used. Peter

THEBERBSTER thanks for the heads up!
I have downloaded Wind and Smoke add-on, but now my officer pretty much does all the job with ship identification. Is there any way I can do the identification process myself in WoS? What I mean is Approaching acceptable distance to target at close to 90 degree angle-> manually browsing the identification manual for the appropriate ship->sending mast height to tdc-> using stadimeter to measure range. Thanks for your help. ![]() |

![]() ![]() THEBERBSTER: I am locking on the target, opening the manual, finding the right ship and sending her mast height to the TDC. I'm hiding the manual, but upon pressing "use the stadimeter" in target range dialogue with the officer, he says "You need to identify the ship to use the stadimeter". Pretty much mast height is sent but ship is still unidentified. Now I wonder if it's a mod issue or some weird native sh5 bug. ![]() |

In either case, it seems to mostly be an issue for me with the UZO and observation scope, try the attack scope or else go a bit deeper and it might work. There generally seems to be a bunch of issues with depths of around 7-8m, surely there has to be a way to just tell the game that anything over say 8.5m IS surfaced. |

Hi Kazakh
Lock the target with the space bar Press the E key to access the recognition manual Select the target type from the front cover Press on the recognition cover to open the manual Use the arrows at the bottom of the page to go backwards and forwards Find the target and send the mast height to the TDC Press the E key to hide the manual. Use the stadimeter to get the range Take more than one stadimeter range as this will aid your accuracy. You can pause the game to do this. As you can see you do not have to use the target identify icon even when you have it available Peter
