Default GWX IXD/2 sub. Listed as 23,000 km range but out of fuel by Scotland?

Just got my new shiny IXD/2 Sub and am out of fuel so quickly. I can get to Gibraltar and back on slow speed.

It is listed as 23,000km range so any ideas?

I tried a search but found lots of posts that did not answer this.

Thanks.

Wikipedia lists the range of the Typ IX as 19,400 km (10,500 NM) at 10 knots. It is customary to specify range at a given speed (usually optimum cruising speed). This is how range is defined in the ship's procurement specs.

The range at full or flank speed will usually be much less, possibly 1/2 or less.

The boat has an operating range of about 20,000 km. And it is capable of 19 kts. But it won't go 20,000 km at 19 kts. (In fact, the R/L boats probably couldn't run at 19 kts indefinitely without experiencing an engine failure.)

Think of it like automobiles: You will never get the stated fuel economy at full throttle.

Did not explain myself properly.

In my IXD I could go to New York and back.

In my IXD/2 I can go 10% of the distance.

I think I am chasing a bug.

Do you use the "Report range at current speed" function to monitor your range? Does it reflect the reduced range?

What mods do you have active?

Did you literally run out of fuel? Did you get warnings from the crew? Did the gauge drop to zero? And did the gauge go down in linear fashsion or drop suddenly to zero?
