Sound Level Issue

I recently installed sh4 again and stuck on the TMO mod (For SH4 v1.5) and i'm having a problem with the sound levels.

When I am cruising around in the boat the sound levels are fine. The engines are fine, the crew responding is fine, the periscope is fine. Even the wake sounds are fine (I remember them being loud last time I played).

But I'm having a huge problem with explosion sounds. They are many times louder than any of the other sounds in the game. Bullets pinging off the hull, cannons firing, torpedo's exploding (although not every torpedo), torpedo's launching (Only tube 2 for some reason). The worst of them all being a depth charge. When my boat was hit by a depth charge that knocked me out it sounded like pure static coming out of my headphones as loud as possible. It wasn't until the sound died down that I realised it was supposed to be a burst pipe.

Is there a mod that alters sound levels to be more in line with each other or any other fix for such an irritating problem?

Thanks!

Ok, the issue appears to be something to do with the volume slider. Sometimes sounds are ignoring the slider completely. Even with the sound effects slider as low as possible it is still just as loud.

I tested this with deck gun and found that more often than not, the sound would ignore the volume slider... Sometimes the firing sound will be very quiet and difficult to hear. And other times it is as loud as can be.

I've also just tried reinstalling the game and listening to the stock sounds. The stock sounds are just as loud as TMOs so the problem is not to do with TMO.

Never had that problem or it just didn't bother me.

You could find your own sounds and replace them or take existing sounds and open them with a sound editor and tone them down.

Been so long, but do you have the 3d sound option checked or not..if so, try unchecking

I ended up turning down some of the problem sounds with audacity. It works all right but it's going to take a while to get them as a want them.

Thank you!
