This 45 minutes docu was broadcasted over here two days ago. It is in German only, so some historic narration may get lost for people not understanding German, but there is still the eye fodder: a nice film about the history of the Nürburgring, from the construction in the imperial time, over the Nazi era and the war, to the changes in the 70s, 80s and late 90s. Quite some stories to be told. Time witnesses, drivers, historic film material from the 20s and 30s, and plenty of impressions of the surrounding landscape and the atmosphere.
I hope this helps Kunos Simulazioni (Assetto Corsa) to get into the right mood! They have announced a laser-scanned version of the Nordschleife for autumn, which will be the first laser scan for a PC simulation of this worldfamous circuit ever. I hope they catch the surrounding landscape as well, at least a bit. The Ring is not completely modelled, if ignoring the landscape it is embedded in! It's beautiful.
