Default Best way to play SH3 on a 1920x1080 screen

Hi, I'm returning to SH 3 after many years. I have now a 1920x1080 wide screen. I suspect I'm not the only one because they are nowadays very cheap and common.
How do you guys do it? Stretch the image and live with the blur, or keep it in a smaller window?
Ive read about the resolution fix, but that 1920x1080 wont work very well.
How about 1440x1080?

First problem is that SH3 originally was made for 1024x768 screens, a aspect ratio=1.333. and 1920x1080 is a ratio = 1.777.

You could play direct on the big screen but with a distorted horizontal view.
The auto screen adjuster mod still will not work here as the SH3 interface images are made to 1.333.

You.. either have to use the MacGui Widesreen mod, or make your own interface pictures to the 1.777 ratio. There would also have to be a few co-ordinate changes in the control files.

So MacGui Widescreen mod seems to be the way - I'm not sure whether other mods are available.

You could use Conus widescreen mod. It´s very good for me and I using 1920x1080 24" widescreen monitor.

For some reason, if I use the conus mod, my computer will not save games. I get CTD when I attempt to load a save.

I just accept the distortion. After a day or so I stopped noticing it.

Hopefully soon with vanjast's (and mine) effort it will be easier to create new UI mods and therefore rejuvenate SH3 in all its glory on modern displays. There aren't many games that survive this long, and personally I think we can make it even better

If all goes well, in a month or so I'll have the first version of the UI editor ready. Barring the issues with hardcoded screens, it should simplify the process for editing that menu ini file.

If the save was made in mid-patrol, you will pretty much always get a CTD if yoy change mods, then try to reload that save. Only saves made while in port will reload after you have changed your active mods list. (There are a few exceptions, but it's the way to bet.)
