Hello Salty Folk. Frustrated person here.
My gaming machine has received a shiny new mobo and upgraded processor, and I am now installing all my games again - of which SH3/4 are at the top of the list, natch. SH4 is on, no problem. SH3 went on, followed by the 1.4b patch, and then GWX. Everything finished without complaint, but, when I click the short-cut, or the .exe, nothing at all happens.Nothing! I tried setting it to XP SP3 and running as admin, without effect. Is there something I have forgotten? I know it runs on 64 bit because I have been happily playing it for months. Can't figure what the problem might be. Same resolution as before, no mods apart from GWX. Am I supposed to swap some .dll's or the app.exe or something? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Did you follow Onkel Neal's thread - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=160118 - if applicable?
And did you install it externally to the Program Files folder? Last edited by Herr-Berbunch; 09-27-13 at 10:07 AM. |

You need the noDVD patch. The old original disk had to be in the DVD tray to play the sim, so the noDVD patch was created to get around that requirement.

It'd be nice to get an error message asking for the disk!

YAY!! sorted. I suspished it was a Tages sort of thing. I think I did actually buy an updated disk (I have 2 disks of SH4 and SH5), and used that copy last time I installed SH3, and while making a cuppa, before coming back on here, a little light went 'ping!' in me head, reminding me of that, and I scurried up here to see if I could find it. I could not, but your helpful suggestions reminded me of the fix I tucked away many moons ago, so a simple transfer of the .dll's and exe etc have achieved the desired result. Hoooray!! Thank 'ee all! xx

I did not get anything - but now I am cruising down the Keil Kanal, about to go under the first bridge - so I don't care any more! Which reminds me; when I first played SH3, probably before GWX, I distinctly remember seeing a vehicle cross that bridge as I approached. Never seen it since though. Nice touch I thought..

There is a truck that crosses the bridge that opens SouthWest of Brunsbuttel I believe. I'm using the mod GWX 3 Wilhemshafen, St Naz, Schluese and ztra ships V7 that BBW put out.

She-Wolf, I recently restarted in SHIII myself...isn't it great to get reacquainted with it?
