I am wondering what happens in regards to getting a new submarine later in a campaign if you don't accept the initial offer. I assume there is a way to change later?
I have decided that I would be very happy if I were never based out of Hawaii ever again, and by looking at the campaign files I can make sure I don't accept a new submarine before it is available elsewhere (since Hawaii always gets the new subs first and you get moved there if that's the only place that has one). So, how does getting a new submarine work if you don't accept them when offered? |

Put in for a transfer after getting a new sub. That's what the phone is for.

For example, the Gato is available as of April 18, 1942, but on at Pearl Harbor. You can't use it in the Asiatic fleet until December 1, 1943 or January 1, 1943 in Brisbane. Of course, I only figured this out after getting my Gato all setup, and in most respects it's better so I prefer to have one. Just, I would avoid accepting it until 1943, or perhaps wait another 6 months and jump straight to a Balao. Or I could modify the file myself, and I might in the future (if I ever choose to use the USS Seadragon for a full war, I will probably modify the game so that I don't have to take it to Hawaii in mid 1944). |
