SH 3 is dynamic. Ie not scripted, as such.
You could go for weeks (game time) and not come across convoys. Be patient. As for playing stock, do yourself a big favour and look at GWX Expansion. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=102096 Substantial improvements and additions to the stock game. |

I never played vanilla choosing to go straight into a modded game. I run GWX 3.0 now, and in February 1940 I would look in BE61 for convoys to be coming from the South and turning to the NorthEast in that grid. I use that area as it is free of shore based aircraft at that time of the war, and far enough away from them, to allow a second, or third attack if you want. I can not say if vanilla uses the same convoy routes as GWX does.

Try using the "NYGM" along with the "IABLShipsforNYGM_New2" and you'll be pretty busy.
![]() In addition, studies good intersecting routes for convoys that are reported by radio. Best regards. ![]()

Some of them are scripted, and there is a good amount of random dice-roling going on which decides when a unit spawns on a certain route. It is also possible for units to make a random choice in going further along their waypoint, or fork of to a specific different waypoint. But I'm not sure if that is applied widespread in the vanilla campaign. It is in GWX3 though, and maybe other mods. So unpredictable ... yes, depending on what you are doing... no. But chokepoints are always a dead giveaway (pun intended) |

Don't waste your time playing vanilla SH3, mate.
You will feel cosmic difference trying GWX, NYGM, LSH or WAC supermods. There are completely new games, it's hard to say in a few words how these mods change stock SH3. Using one word - everything. |
