Some of us aren't smart enough to own a computer...

http://news.msn.com/crime-justice/ca...5ccce1&ap=True

Idiot with child porn on his PC turns himself in to the FBI after catching a ransomware virus.

Some peoples kids.

And ... the MSN idiots telling people that it will take a trip to the shop to get this nasty virus removed from their rig. It's not just games, music and movies that are prone to piracy.

Looks like the FBI ransomware actually did something good. It caught a really stoopid pervert.

I guess the guy didn't have $450.00, a paypal account or both.

I find it truly sad that people actually pay into these things. How ignorant can you be. Even if you know nothing about computers, would it not strike you as completely fake to randomly get a message falsely claiming that you've viewed child porn, and that you can get out of it and have your computer back (along with all the supposed child porn thats on it) for $450?

Granted you dont fall for it, its just a really, really big pain to deal with. The one i got was really poorly made and booting in safemode and clearing with malwarebytes/avast/kapersky/rkill managed to destroy it. It took me half an hour.

Yeah, $450.00 is a bargain.

I'd like to see the look on the faces of the flim flammed when they discover that there is no code to unlock their desktop, even after they pay.

Buggery on the intertubz.

Bad news - the FBI make sure he gets 25 years in jail.
Good news - his PC is fixed.

in the 1990's about twice a year, where I worked, some "genius" would be caught with child pornography on his government owned computer at work.

Yikes, even ignoring the moral/legal issue of child porn, storing it on your government owned.... and monitored computer is just not a good idea.

When I was first issued my government account, we had to go to a separate building where the account manager pointed out all the mainframe computers and all the personnel whose sole job was to monitor what was happening on their government computers.

Yeah, they WILL catch you.

Crikey. The bad news is that people are dumb; the good news is that dumb people are easier to catch.
