Relatively Useful Binoculars for GWX 3.0
by Missing Name

Tired of losing direction when looking through binoculars? This mod is for you. It stands to reason that even the most inept of kaleuns can figure out a relatively accurate relative bearing based on where he is standing on the bridge. This mod does just that: adds the main relative bearings (0/360*, 90*, 180*, 270*) and the direct intermediates (45*, 135*, 225*, 315*) to the blank Bearing2.tga. This lets you know what relative bearing you are observing by reading the dial at the top of the scope - within reason, of course. You can't expect anyone to know if they are looking at exactly 142* or 333*, do you? There'll still be some guess work to do when someone yells out "Merchant spotted! Bearing 260, long range!" But at least zeroing in on that Passenger/Cargo will be a little bit faster.

INSTALLATION

JGSME ready. Unrar and drop it into your MODS folder, then activate. Uninstallation is the opposite: deactivate and throw the folder in the bilge.

It's true. And I do. I just align myself with the quoted bearing, then use the binoculars. Just like real life.

I think you provided the wrong file.
Your archive includes only the original Binocular.tga. Nothing more...

My, my, this is what I get for throwing mods together before my coffee kicks in...

I am working on two variants: one with just bearing2.tga modified, and another with a rounded, narrower binocular.tga included. I guess I threw the wrong, unmodified binocular file and completely forgot the bearing stuff. I'm not at my pc for half a day at this point (Merry Christmas!) and so you can amuse yourselves with my mistakes.

I can't download your mod. But I have already done the job for myself because I like the idea.

At the moment, the link is removed while I work on the more extensive overhaul. Bearing2 is fine, but Binocular.tga modifies both the binocs and UZO. My goal is to eliminate the unrealistic "double circle" view and create more of an circle with slight concavity on the top and bottom.

Also, continuing to work on DNA manipulation for class.

Use the Mediafire link. I got the mod last night from there.

MN, will they work with the other Super Mods too, or has anyone tried it with them?

In the mod on mediafire, there is just the binoc.tga, and not bearings2.tga. I don't want to change my binocs or UZO, because I don't find the "double circle" view unrealistic.

Thanks on the heads-up about it from Mediafire. All I did was get what was there from Mediafire. I haven't installed it yet so I didn't see what you did.
