I for one have stopped celebrating anything to do with the US. It's like celebrating the great ship Titantic after it hit the iceburg.

I use these "holidays" as a solemn rememberance of what the US used to stand for and the men and women who gave their lives for those freedoms.

Actually Independence Day was the 2nd. The 4th is "Send The Official Copy To The Printers Day".

But the sentiment is always appreciated.

I will always celebrate Independence Day in honor of those who shed their precious blood for this country. It's one thing to shed paper for this country, but that'll never equate to shedding blood for this country.

Except of course if not for five particular men who never shed blood for the country there would be no Declaration, and possibly no Revolution. Add to them the rest of the Continental Congress. They were as important as anyone.

Once it was a bright, noble and positive date for the whole world. But today it has the bad taste of sold morality and greedy, misanthropic ruthlessness.

Better get used to this.

The US has build up its own image of surveillance, distrust, torture, contempt for mankind, murder, terror etc. and they'll keep it for the next few generations.

The world can't bring the warmongers to justice, and it won't bomb the US back to normal, but it can force the US to view into a mirror to see that ugly face.
