Default Can only run a couple of mods or pc crashes :(

(I'm having a busy day here on the forum!)

This is really weird

Just reinstalled SH3 with GWX - works great. but when i activate mods - if i add more than 2 or 3 it crashes on the GWX loading screen. As in I have to hold the power button down

I thought one particular mod might have been causing it - but trying each in isolation is no problem. But once I put in 3 or 4 - then i'm scuppered again

Sigh... i'm running this on a new laptop with windows 8.1, 64 bit - it is set to win xp compatability but i wonder if that has something to do with it.

The mods i'm activating (so far) are das boot intro movie, 16km, open hatch, integrated orders, captain america officer icons and SH4 effects for SH3. (I thought the last one might have been the culprit but so far it just seems it crashes when i run more than 3 at a time)

Anyone else had similar problems?

Are you using a 4 GB patch?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply! Yes

I installed SH3 from DVD, 1.4b patch, the no dvd patch, 4gb patch and res fix and then GWX

Laptop only a week old so havent yet had a chance to gather any malware either - it's really strange

I have never tried the das boot intro movie and open hatch mod. I've read that movies can cause problems in SH3 - codecs and all sort of stuff I don't understand. If you leave those two out, will it still crash?

Thanks everyone. I've realized the problem isn't to do with SH3 or mods - but a hardware problem (Got a new gaming laptop and connected it to docking station, guess i havent used the right drivers or something as the external monitor locks up)

My Notebook has 2 different video systems. I had to set the ATI video to engage when playing SH3. It's the better of the 2 with 1 gig dedicated memory.
The Intel system only has like 125 meg.

Make sure you are using the latest JSGME version I think the one that comes with GWX is the older version.
