Default Recent lottery winner owes 29K child support.

Not only that, he has a warrant out for his arrest. He was also buying booze when he got his lottery ticket. Can't pay child support, but can afford booze and lottery tickets.

Studies show millions that buy lottery tickets spend hours in prayer hoping God will let them win. Many are sick, jobless, etc. I've seen winners pronounce God made them win to solve their problems. It should be obvious God has nothing to do with who wins the lottery. The majority of people that do go broke in a few years and end up bankrupt. Yea, if I was God, I would see that whoever won would be the one that would do the most good, but I'm not God.

I would bet this story isn't going to have a happy ended. My feeling is he's going to end up being one of those lottery winners who piss it all away.

I can't see a deadbeat dad with arrest warrants out for him being the type of person to hire a financial planner to structure him a portfolio of equities and a ladder of high quality municipal bonds in order to maximize income and reduce tax liability.

At least now he can pay his child support. Question is, will he?

Why? There is a whole branch of Christianity (prosperity theology: see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prosperity_theology) that argues that God brings financial rewards to those that believe in him. This doctrine seems to work too, at least in as much as it brings financial rewards to those who preach it...

God has something to do with people winning money? That's funny.
Any true Christian knows that God does not involve himself with materialistic things.
People that pray to God for money and wealth and such materialistic wishes are praying to an empty hole.
You don't pray to God for that.

As long as you're willing to pay for the program....

You know what they say, Americans elect Democrats for the free stuff, Republicans because they don't want to pay for it..

My wife is a workers comp claims adjuster. She is supposed to check if the person filing a claim is behind on child support.

When she finds out that they do owe, she can have their claim checks garnished to pay the child support up to a certain percentage at the adjuster's discretion.

She always garnishes the maximum and loves the phone calls she gets from the claimant- "Where's all my money?" When they gripe, she tells them she can't do anything about it and to talk to the Dept. of Child Services.

Very little sympathy for people who don't pay their child support.

What gets me is how in the hell was this guy even ALLOWED to get behind in cs payments by this much?
Here, i know a friend who was behind by $12 and cs contacted him by phone to ask him when he would be able to make the payment! Yes, you read right: $12!!!

If you work then obviously you pay child support. It gets worked out on an annual income figure, and then gets adjusted at tax time.
If you don't work, the cs gets deducted from your welfare payments. With regular estimates put in to cs this can go up or down, depending on your current taxable income.

In endeffect, you ALWAYS pay cs, no matter what you are currently doing in life. It's the law here.

That's why it stumps me so much that this guy is behind that much. I don't believe it tbh.

I wish it were the case here.

My ex-wife owes me over $1200. She hasn't paid in over 2 years - and is only required to pay $50 a month to start with. Between non-payment, her getting busted for welfare fraud, and now her actually having to work for once in her life - she still isn't doing right by her own child. Pretty sorry.

That's a very sad thing to see. Not just from the custodial parents' point of view but from the payee who can't or won't face up to responsibilities.
And it's not even about the money to be honest. It should be second nature that one faces up to the responsibilities and make the payments without so much as even blinking an eye lid.
