Where does GWX installer look for mods? Help GWX won't install over my clean install

I'm pulling my hair out! I followed the instructions to prep for installation of GWX Gold (XP)

I still am getting the message that mods are installed. Outside of rolling back commander before the install and deactivation of mods. I have now uninstalled commander and Generic Mod enabler and still I get the mod message. I searched for anything with silent hunter in its name silent hunter 3 sh3 , etc and still the same issue. I still have zip folders of all of my mods but they are in a separate folder that has the name "new folder". but . any suggestions, can i get around the installer check somehow? Please help. Thanks

PS, And yes I did uninstall the previous version of SH3 and installed a clean version in the same location. I successfully installed GWX once before so I know the process.

Default Thanks for reply

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I am trying to install the GWX supermod over a clean install the GWX Gold. GWX gold requires a "clean version of SH# to be installed on top of. I prepped my system as required by the install directions posted on GWX Gold thread. When I initiate the GWX install.exe. It asks me to point it to my install of SH3, I provide the path and then I get the message that it has detected SH3 mods so it won't continue with the install of GWX. As my earlier post states..I have been looking for mods and other folders and directories that might make it think that my install of SH# was not clean but I continue to get the same message.

Any ideas

Did you do your installation of SH3 in the program files (x86)? if not re-install SH3 and then use Registry Cleaner like,http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download (Free) (remove junk files from previous installations) after that patch it if necessary, then install GWX3, so u can go on...

Thanks guys..My version is already v1.4 so no need to patch, right?

If you ran JSGME or Commander before installing GWX 3?
You probably have a file left over in the !Backup folder of one or the other.

That will stop the install.

I wrote the installer so I know what files are looked for.

Yea, I'm a slacker today.

Actually?
Checking on some issues concerning Units taken from SH Games and being used in another Game.

The legal and permissions thing you know.
The Devs from the other Game contacted me and asked for some help
so as to not upset anyone here at SubSim or with Ubi.

As long as the persons involved have proper permissions?
There is no problem.
Should what I have seen to be true?
We have a problem to sort out.

I've contacted all parties involved to find the truth and settle this issue.
Should I find skullduggery?

I'll seek the Ban Hammer.

You can do a lot worse than take notice of Privateer...registry clean should do it.
