Default Hey guys

Hello everyone, I joined the forums on here a while back and I never did get back on to posting...

Well I recently bought SH5 because I wanted to give it a run to see how it is... First off comming from SH3 I am still learning how to control the ship... I must say I prefer the SH3 controls more... But I will learn, so I remembered to get back on here and get involved.

Right now Im just playing the stock version of SH5 and Im already looking forward to getting some better mods for it..

Thanks I checked out the mod thread and downloaded the Mighty Fine Crew mod and another mod and Capthelms audio mod but I didnt notice a difference in the game.. THe biggest thing I would like is to change to German voices.. I downloaded a german voice pack but it doesnt show a zipped folder...

Sorry Im not very savvy at modding games. I watched Stoainm's videos on how to install JGSME and mods but I cant get the mods I downloaded to work...

I will have to spend more time on this later though when I am off of work..

WELCOME ABOARD!

TheDarkWraith's New UIs mod will let you have the SH3 setup, or SH4, or other variants.

What's it doing? Most of us have experience with problems, and some of us have even overcome them.

Hello,

I'll try and help if I can....

Im going to assume the mods tool is installed as per the instructions, with the JSGME shortcut starting in your SH5 game folder ( that is, right-clicking the shortcut of JSGME and under the SHORTCUT tab, you have the path to where SH5 is installed... )

2) Make sure you check the mod after you have unzipped it. When the mod is unzipped, some have an 'extra' layer of directories, like this:

example:

/seadogs_mod/seadogs_mod/mods/data/scripts/...

you need to 'remove' the extra layer(s) of directory tree, before the JSGME will install correctly. JSGME doesnt really think on its own, it copies simply the directory structure of the mod you are trying to install...

Specifically, for SH5, your ready to use mod should look like this:

seadogs_mod/data/scripts...

Note: this is a standard answer. Some mods directions are to manualy install, you should always check the notes...

Finally, most mods will cause your saved games outside of port to CTD. Some do, some don't. You should always mod while you have just entered port ( that is, enter port, SH5 will do a auto game save, exit the game, add your mod, start the game and try it out )

Hopefully this helps. There are probably other ways to do things, but this is what has worked for me....

Hope its ok I tried to answer this, Sailor Steve.

Well I will start at the top.

I downloaded JGSME from the link and I put it in the SH5 file on the C Drive, I went to data and installed JGSME there. Then I created a folder in the data file called mods. I load all put all of the mods there and unzip them. I then go to start JGSME and I import the mods. when I put them on the right side I see a progress bar loading, which lets me think its working... When I go to the game I tried installing the mighty fine crew mod and the characters didnt look different... I did install the dynamic weather mod from Stoainm and I think it worked. I had never seen the weather like it was when I last played... So it leads me to think that I may have gotten it to work, its just some downloads arent wanting to work..

Sorry I hope it all made sense.. Im really trying not to get frustrated with it.. The stock game is just bleh and I hope I can figure this out.. Thank you for any help I really really appreciate it!

I did find this thread by Sober http://174.123.69.202/~subsimc/radioroom/showthread.php?t=180046

and I am going to use it. If I cant figure it out after that Im going to give up for a bit and then try again later..

Success! I figured it out guys, guess it helps to take your time and patiently read through everything!
