Default Where can i raid?

This might seem like a odd question but, sometimes i just want to be destructive and have some blockbuster fun.

I've recently installed a few mods that make scertain surface ships playable. Sometimes, i just love to use a destroyer as a "raider", that is, wreaking havoc among defenseless merchant ships. Like a pirate more or less.

So my question is, which locations, routes or harbours has more abundance of lightly defended ships who i can harass with impunity? And when?

I have mostly played SH3 and a little SH5, and i'm almost completely new to SH4, so i haven't really experienced and learned the conditions and geography of the game that much yet.

Try Tokyo harbor. You'll probably find a few ships worth sinking on the way in, and there are four or five different ports within spitting distance of each other. Plenty of possibilities.

Much depends if you're using stock or mods, as I recall stock doesn't have Truk and several other nice ports.

Yup, the enemy gunners aren't that accurate in stock either. They won't leave their berths, but they'll fire on you within a certain range nevertheless. With the mods, they tend to be much more accurate and at greater ranges.

Im using stock, and i've noticed that. I played one of the stock single missions with a Fletcher class destroyer to try it out and faced a convoy with several destroyers, subchasers and one light cruiser. I circled the escorts at medium-close range at full speed firing away at the warships of the convoy. Destroyed all destroyers, a few subchasers and completely crippled (but not sunk) the light cruiser, and sunk a couple of merchants, than i ran out of ammo and had to leave a buffe of merchants without any escorts left. And i got out without a scratch. I took a few hits, but none resulted in lasting damage.

Perfect for the pasttime i was looking for, but i'll need to check out some of the mods for when i want realism, immersion and suspense.
GWX made miracles for the SH3 experience, and some of the supermods for SH4 look fantastic!

Do anyone of you know which file to modify to change the amount of deck gun ammo?
The Fletcher only has around a 120 shells on each gun, and the AI, though has alot better aim than the enemy AI, misses alot of the shots, so ammo gets eaten up fast.

When you get tired of the easy game then try TMO 2.5. It's not so hard that's it's not fun. The graphics are great and the AI is challenging. It was the best choice I made otherwise I would have deep sixed this game long ago.

if you like allied ships go to download section and get the cleveland light cruiser, that have range to give you alot of fun without being "king" of the seas.....

Im on the other side, and are strictly using the Takao heavy cruiser for SH IV...

Destroyers simply dont have the range or punch for some of the werry awsome fun.....

Im pretty sure that i have a wantet poster on each allied harbour office...

Wantet.

dead or alive

Takao heavy cruiser

Reward. 1 gazilion $
