Default U Boat Periscope

I have the following mods set up in generic mode enabler (see below). After checking, it seems that my u-boat (at least the starting one) does not have aft torpedo tubes - is that always the cae? Also, when looking through the periscope, with the left side control panel, there is a switch about half way down the panel. If I turn it up it is labeled "T" and if I turn it down it is labeled "S" - what does that switch do, or should it do?

Thanks for all you kind help.

Julie

Hi Julie.

Whether you have both forward and aft tubes would depend on the type of U boat you are using. Type II and Type XXIII did not have rear tubes.

The "T" and "S" switch allows you to toggle between single or salvo torpedo shots. The salvo position allows you a number of tube combinations.

Hope this helps. Good hunting.

Nor does the Type XXI. The American S-class also lack rear tubes.

Thanks for the information. I started out playing on an American sub and switched to the German Uboat career using Operation Monsun. I have noticed that the helmsan keeps screaming at me. While it does get on my nerves I guess I can live with it. What bothers me is the in game eqivalent of of the sonar operator:

"GERMAN FISHING BOAT OFF THE PORT BOW. BEARING 230 TRAVELING AT .1 KNOTS...I THINK HE IS PREPARING TO THROW A FISH AT US!!!"

He keeps screaming what appears to be "WD ship" at me. Also I have noticed that the helmsman seems to have difficulty keeping the ship on the surface. I will set the depth to "0" and it will vary wildly between 0 and 20 feet. When I am in shallow water this becomes a problem.

Is there a mod to get the sonar operator to stop calling off friendly ships?

Julie

What's the weather like when this happens. In heavy weather the boat tends to duck under the water, and the LI/Chief Engineer/Helmsman tells you when the boat hits 10 meters under. If you have measurements set to "Imperial" I expect this will register as 20 feet.

Unfortunately his job is to call out all contacts, and the game doesn't differentiate.
