Default Camera Movement

I have seen many videos of people on Youtube playing Silent Hunter 4 that seem to have the ability to move freely instead of being stuck in one play in the sub and on the bridge. How is this done? Is there a command I can't find? Or is this a special mod?

thanks

Julie

Lot's of larger mods have this feature. TMO, RFB, my OTC mod, have the capabilities to allow for free camera movement either throughout the ship or outside. The file that needs to be modded is the Data/Library/camera.dat file.

You'll need to use the "Silent 3Ditor" to open the file and work with the specific areas you want to change. You may not want to use one of the mods I listed, but here's how you can start learning to mod yourself. Download the mod and pick out the camera.dat file and run it through the S3D application. Make a copy of the camera.dat file you use and have S3D open it at the same time the first is open. Now compare the different areas of interest, like the "Free Command Room" nodes. You'll see what the modded file has done with the parameters and you just need to do the same on your file. Save it, and use your file in the game. If you like what you changed you're on your way to modding. If not, you did put your original file in a safe place didn't you?

Good luck

The Avatar is very nice indeed as Mr. Stevens was kind enough to change it.
