Hi
How do I get the TDC to track range? I put all the data in and follow it with the periscope. I see the gyro angles changing etc but not the range. Cheers Jason

The range will not track.
You need to use the stadi to input range when you first setup your solution. You can then track the target with your scope. Then when ready to fire, you should re-input range after a stadi check |

But if the range will not track, how do you get round the fact that the range is constantly decreasing as the target closes? This chnage in range will affect everything.
The only way I can figure out how it might be done is to measure everything out on a map and then chose a point on the target's predicted course where you are going to attack. You could then measure the distance to that point and enter that directly, since it is a constant. I guess then that could enter the rest of the TDC data when the crosses that point, since all variables are then known -- but then again, this is cheating ![]()

When you first sight the contact and you lock onto it and enable follow target you'll notice the TDC dials updating in real-time. Set the target's speed and AOB and re-enable automatic TDC mode. Now as long as you don't break lock and the target doesn't change course/speed your solution is valid except for distance (you can change course and the TDC will automatically account for it). Take stadimeter reading to make distance valid then let the torps fly. |
