I think China is tomorrows superpower that will hold as much, if not more sway then the US did at the height of its superpower status. The whole space docking thing is China's way of saying, "We are in the big boys club now. Watch out, we're coming!"

China is serious about space exploration, as its a source of national pride just like in the US/Russian during the space race of the 50's/60's. Won't be too long before we see the Chinese flag on the moon.

China surges powerfully forward in space and science while the US political establishment has directed NASA to delay and retrench and layoff still more workers.

Outstanding achievement for China.

Good on them!

I don't know if we will be seeing a Chinese moon landing any time soon, but I fully expect a Chinese space station (of some sort) soon.
