Saved careers crashing

Ok, so I've been playing SHIII + GWX3 for some months now on my MacBook Pro with Bootcamp and XP.

Recently each time I try to open a saved career the game crashes (illegal instruction or something; notify Microsoft?) The single missions open fine. I can start a new career (or overwrite an existing one) and it opens fine until I save and quit and next time . . . crash.

Any ideas? I have searched the forums and although there are some folks experiencing what sounds like similar issues, I'm not convinced that they are referring to the same thing.

Were you in mission when you saved?

If so, sometimes being near enemy ships has caused CTD for me. Though this problem seems to be fixed if I do a normal save 1st and then the save and exit function. It even seems to fixed the save underwater CTD. But dont take my word for it. It could just be me.
