for one reason or another, these photos of night streetlife in cardiff, wales, uk have hit the news in Britain.
To any person familiar with town life in the Uk the scenes are extremely recognizable, and yet there is something magical and wonderful about the work of this Polish photographer. enjoy! http://www.pbase.com/maciekda/cardif...ry_street_zone

Ah, the memories....always thought we should have been on a commission basis dependant on how much trash you cleared the streets of.
Females were generally the worst offenders and the most difficult to come to grips with. |

Those pics remind me of my days at university, and the nights out....so long ago now.

Around here drunken men whip out there todger and take a leak in the road! Long gong the days of using walls and phone boxes...speaking of phone boxes there now used for sex. And in the morning the smell of pee is in the air, what a great country I live in.

Doesn't look that bad, but I suppose Cardiff would be a bit quiet compared to Newcastle or London. Seen much worse in Sydney myself. Kings Cross in the 1980's and 90's got pretty rough at times.

Yea! It sure does.
Only reason I clicked the link was to see if a certain blue box would be on a street corner. ![]() |

![]() Never have met anyone 'under the influence' that was able to size up the potential consequences of their actions, they usually go with the first idea that comes into their drink induced mindset. They usually undergo an amazing transformation that is close to sanity in the morning after they sober up though ![]() |

if you are a policeman patrolling drunks at kick-out time on a friday night, then those individuals that you are going to 'meet' in a professional way are likely to be those who are unable to assess the consequences of their actions. Those who still have their wits about them are likely to be those that keep quiet before going home to sleep it off.

In my time a low key presence was maintained, just enough to let people see the area was being observed and enough of a presence to ask people to grab a taxi or leave the area in an orderly fashion as required by local bye laws. What would invariably happen next would be a surge of 999 calls regarding complaints centered around noise and drunkeness, often accompanied with fighting, criminal damage and allegations of people peeing and sometimes even fornicating in full public view. It was at this point additional resources waiting a mile or so away in vans and out of public view would be called in. In the vast majority of cases people would be advised of their wrongdoing and given a chance to leave the area peacefully....those who were caught performing a criminal act such as vandalism or serious assault or who chose to go into 'Rambo' mode were obviously treated in a more assertive manner. |

I'd say it was informed by personal experience if Houston was anything to go by.
