I know that you guys had a news article up on the home page about this a while back but I figured that I may as well update everybody on the conclusion.
http://shipfax.blogspot.com/2011/07/...-underway.html The three remaining Oberon class subs are leaving Halifax Harbor. HMCS Ojibwa will be preserved as a museum in Port Burwell, ON HMCS Okanagan will be scrapped, along with ex-HMS Olympus likely at Port Maitland (which if I am not mistaken was where they scrapped the HMCS Fraser last year, real shame) This basically concludes the saga of the "reserve" ex-navy ships that spent years tied up at Halifax Harbor in mothballs.

At least one will be preserved. Always a shame to see an O boat go. I think that's probably the last of them now. She's served her time well.

10 of 27 boats have been preserved either as museums or monuments (from Wikipedia) which is about 37% percent of class. Oberons (including our own...) have been treated kindly.

Poor Jim, always getting picked on.
I was going to ask why it was that a British sub was named after a North American aboriginal people, before I remembered that Canada had the boat, making Ojibwa a perfectly sensible name. Hey, it's early and I'm still getting my coffee.
