Default I need serious help!

Okay,

I've cruised the forums a bit and mostly got my questions answered and you all seem to be quite helpful- so I'm hoping you can get me the rest of the way there...

First, How do I get that bar up that allows me to give orders to my different officers? Like in SH3 and SH4? I have tried using DarkWraith's UI mod but I get everything EXCEPT that command bar.

(speaking of the DW UI, I cannot seem to move the CO2, Fuel, and Battery clickies off of my speed meter. It's clunky and hard to control ship speed unless using kbd shortcuts).

Also, regarding the UI mod- Is it possible to get the auto aiming feature that is in Vanilla (the one with the numbers 1,2, and 3 along my torpedo path and targets heading) to work with this mod? I like the ability to have more options, but no I can't his squat. Still too new to the game to try manual targeting though I plan on it after the learning curve...

Secondly, How do I manually man the Deck gun? I can manually man the Flak gun as it seems my men wont man it themselves even when the order is given. (It constantly remains empty regardless that I ask them to man the flak several times) I'm assuming this is a bug.

I can, however issue orders for my men to man the deck gun, but I cannot manually man it myself...

Loving this game as I did with SH3 and SH4, but it seems this one is a bit more steep with the learning curve as the others. Things that came easily are a head scratcher now...

Are you doing the tutorial still??? The tutorial makes some parts of the UI hidden. Complete the tutorial and all the UI should then be visible.

Not sure what you mean.... A screen shot would help me understand what you want.

Yes it is possible. But requires editing the TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py file.

Walk down to the gun and click on it.
How are you ordering them to man the flak\deck guns??
Just talk to the watch officer and he will give you the option. (either in 3d or the officers panel added by TDW).
I use voice commands (Speech Recognition).

If your using TDW when in the game open up the window map the one on the bottom left & click on the button "Figure TAI map features" then inside that check the "Round Numbers on Torpedo solution line [1,2,3].

To man the deck gun you order the men to man the deckgun then you go and man it. (I'm presuming you already know but just in case you dont, - you walk down the ladder to the deckgun & man it) You can't man the deckgun unless their are men manning it first.

You are correct about being able to select the 1,2,3 lines from the TAI map. Thanks for pointing this out. It's much easier than editing the useroptions.py

BTW its Ctrl and F11 to take a screen shot. And the pic is found in your SilentHunter folder.

And to tell your men to man the guns.... ask the watch officer.

P.s. I just noticed something unusual in the pic with the TAI..... Look at the lighthouse and how its leaning almost a 45 degrees.

I can't do a screen cap at the moment as I am at work- but I can try and describe it to you:

Where you see your speed, in the far right side of the gauge is where my CO2, battery, and and fuel gauges are. Right on top of the speed gauge. It covers up from the speed rating of 3 to speed 5. It's like its overlaid right over it. And thus far I cannot seem to move it out of the way. I also noticed that you have a gauge to navigate your sub by compass heading. The one that is to the right of your speed. On mine it is there, but it is blank. Meaning there are no compass notations. Just a black bar with a yellow rectangle inside it.

Also, as stated in my original post- I can't get the bar up that has clickables of each officer to issue orders and from looking at your screen cap, you have more options for your deck officer than I do. I have no way to issue orders to navigation officer, weapons officer, or any other officer.


As far as the deck gun and flak, how do I get down to the deck gun? I can even see it to click on it as the coning tower is in the way.

Is your Game patched to version 1.2????

A screen shot would seriously help me understand with the fuel,co2 etc.

The officers bar shoud be there by default, have you installed the mod correctly? Have you tried the UI in historical missions?? are you doing the tutorial??

There is a ladder to get down from the conning tower to the deck. one on the right side and also one on the left side of the conning tower.


The extra options in my dialog with the watch officer is from a mod. Magnum Opus (Athlonic's MCCD "More Crew Commands by Dialog").

Are any parts of the newUI's showing???

I'm beginning to think that either your not patched to 1.2 or you haven't installed the mod correctly. I dont think any of the problems your having are bugs from the game or mod.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm patched. I ran the updated in the support file. The game menu says 1.15 and it will not patch any further.


I'll try and get a screenshots tonight for ya. Just hit print screen, right?

And as far as the newUI, it's all showing as far as I know. Just the CO2 gauges on top of my speed gauge and the compass dial in the navigational bar to the right of the speed bar not showing up at all. (again, its just an empty black rectangle with a yellow square in the center)

Hopefully I can get a screenie for ya and post it this evening.

Screen shot is Ctrl F11. (the manual says print screen, but the manual is incorrect). The screenshot is save in your silenthunter5 root folder.

What version of the game do you have??? Steam, Digital download, gold, collectors, DVD, other(please specify).

Digital download.

Can't remember from where, but when I launch the game from the SH5 icon, a window appears with a big "play" button on the bottom right that launches the game. I think it's an ubisoft window of some sort. I know it is not steam, gold, or collectors...

How can I patch to 1.2 from here? I tried using the updater from the support folder and it will not update any further. I even downloaded a 1.2 patch but when I run it it says I'm running an incorrect version or somethingoranother...

And thanks so much for the help! Appreciate the time you are all taking to help. I swear I'm not this dumb in real life.

The game should auto update when you launch it.

This is my screenshot.

Notice how the co2, battery, and fuel gauge is right over the speed gauge and also how there is no compass points in the gauge next to the speed gauge.

any fixes for this?

By the way, I AM finally on 1.2 now after a reinstall and updated over a clean (no modded) vanilla install. Menu screen shows 1.2.

Hopefully you patched to v1.2 with NO mods installed. If so, you might have to reinstall SH5 and re-patch to v1.2

I did a clean reinstall with no mods activated and patched to 1.2.

I also noticed, that the Depth under Keel does not work. I hear the "ping" but I get no report. This is from using the shortcut button as well as the navigational officer.

Does this help?

Have you seen this issue in your mod yet?
