Default Mod to reduce number of planes?

I just got this game a few days ago and I am enjoying it except for two things. The first thing I mentioned in my other post so I will not go over it here. The second thing is the fact that I am constantly beset by enemy bombers. I cannot move two inches on the map in the daylight without a bomber interrupting my progress. Maybe back in the day they had this many planes scouring the ocean. I am not really concerned about the realism I just want less planes. I have tried moving underwater during the day but the sub doesn't have enough battery power for that. So to get anywhere I have to drop underwater during the day and sit there and wait for night so I can move again. Seeing as the day/night cycle turns over extremely quickly, and the fact that it takes an extremely long time to cross the oceans, this makes for no end of irritation.

tldr: Is there a mod to significantly reduce the number of bomber planes that interrupt travel constantly?

Are you playing version 1.5 (that is, the Stock version)? The stock game seems to have an inordinate number of aircraft contacts. All the mods (that I know of) will reduce the air traffic to more reasonable, if not realistc, values. I used to usually hit a vast number of contacts west of Midway (long after the battle of MW), out in the middle of nowhere. Many attempts were made to locate a carrier but nary a CV was found.

Default asked and answered - search the threads here and in the mod forum

check the threads for an answer. There are mods out there. Also, look at Webster's mod list, as he has one that decreases (reduces) aircraft traffic. Note, you are seeing a lot of planes, in part, due to time compression.

Absolutely, As there is no way to realistically play this game in real time, TC will make it seem like there are an inordinate amount of planes, however, I'm finding in 1.5 that (my experience anyway) I've been spotted!! Yes, Coming up the Makassar Strait after the Allies lose Borneo, I've come too close too often to Western Celebes. After that,... Wow, I was up to my eyeballs in Betty's, Zeros, and Catalina style search planes. These were definitely looking for me as some of the planes kept changing course, doing 180 degree turns, 90 degree turns, just to stay on my "reported" course. I do not know exactly when I was spotted but I thought this was a nice touch of realism. All those planes out looking for lil 'ol me!
Those two airbases on Borneo are very active.

DudeTheMan;
One, Welcome aboard!
I use two different mods to check the planes and reduce the number of aircraft if needed. If you search carefully you'll find that some of the mods specifically stop nightime searches which is acurate as no pilot would try to take his plane up at night on an erratic search course, that would spell disaster.
As 'Goin Down' said, Webster's 'Better Air Patrol's' is pretty good.

I use this one and it doesn't over do it, that is, it'll keep it real.
There are a few more in the downloads section to check out.
Enjoy and Good Hunting!

Default planes=crash dive

If you see planes crash dive fast. You will usally be ok.

Later in the war with good guns and good gunmen it might be ok.

if you find a ship in a area with planes pop up fast, and shoot quickly then dive again, turn 90 degrees. go deep.

Stock is very unrealistic, not only in planes but where they spawn.

I use RSRD and have little problems with planes, some patrols I never see them. However, many still complain of too many planes. Certainly during battle campaigns RSRD has lots of planes, just try the Solomons in 42. You want to partake of it, got to accept the fact planes show up historically.

Airbases are different, but you learn them over time. Each spawn different types, some long range, some short, floatplane bases, etc. With RSRD a small hourglass black icon will pop up showing you the airfield and that you're in range.

Learn the JP carrier aircraft, that way you'll know if a carrier is near.

Stock isn't as bad, but with mods often a lot of US planes in the air.

I've seen US and JP airplanes shoot each other. They don't give chase, but will shoot in passing or often in battles they get intermixed why attacking ships. Using tactics knowing when to get spotted, you can see some heavy plane action.

My experience says the same. In 'u-boat missions', you obviously run into a lot of hunter-killer groups with escort cariers. You know they're there when you see those short-ranged wildcats flying in pairs (in the midle of the deep ocean!), or other such improbable sightings considering the short range of small aircraft. Everytime I am spoted, soon more and more planes will appear and make my life impossible. Usually the only option is to dive and proceed very slowly - or even stop and wait till night falls.

I interpret that as the game depicting what in real life should be quite obvious: if you're found, they are going to radio in and send everything they have against you. The fact that fighters are soon followed by torpedo-bombers or other kinds o attack craft seems to confirm that.
