Default Pool

I'm a fan of the old title Virtual Pool 3. But over the past two weeks, I have spend much time with FooBillard 3.0, which is free.

http://foobillard.sourceforge.net/

If you have any interest in a decent billard simulation, try this one. For no money, you can't go wrong. I have learned to like it very much. The sim delivers a physically sufficiently solid gaming experience, and looks very nice. It's the best pool sim I know beside VP3.

It also includes a real 3D mode to be used with green-red glasses. Note that due to it's age, I mean red and green for sure, not the contemporary cyan-violet glasses we have these days - with the latter, it does not function.

The sim knows 8-ball, 9-ball, Carambolage, and Snooker. Table size and table themes can be varied. Human-human, human-AI, tournament mode. AI with 5 skill levels. Good zoom and angle control, birdview, English (=effet).

In a forum I read a reference to a leading company head of Celeris, developer of Virtual Pool 3, which has been the best pool simulation until to date and in various incarnations on several platforms has continued to collect awards and top scorings until today. The developement of Virtual Pool 4 seems to come to an end, the man gets quoted with that they aim at a release this summer, although they cannot promise it.

Nice! I have always been a fan of VP3.

Until then, try out the free trial version of VP3 which is limited to 4-ball, which is avaialble from many links, for example here:
http://games.softpedia.com/get/Games...l-Pool-3.shtml
Should give you an impression of what it is about.
