Default [REL] sobers base fog mechanics for SH5 V1

latest version is version 16
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=2925

Most fog in SH5 is medium i have found . This fog mod gives an enjoyable medium fog distance (6000mts) at this level . The submarine is not covered in fog at all levels . If you dont like it then use W_Clear real fog mod .

I honestly can't remember if SH3 had the same problem with the fog, this fog seems to be a constant density whereas SH3 seemed to be over distance like real fog. Other than that it looks good, I do like the slight haze with no fog!
Thanks.

Funny thing is, when you look at things close to you, the fog looks like an overlay. But, in the pic of heavy fog, you cannot see the far buildings at all, but as you get closer, you start to be able to see things.

Sober, is that affect purely from a visual range limiter, or from some progressive mechanism that could be tweaked?

Because, I know that with the shadows, the way they look is progressive(albeit only in 3 separate stages). I imagine though that more stages could be added with enough work.

V3 out .
Deleted the light fog .
Light fog now is the same as no fog so you will get some fog but further out .

Have to try this too, thanks! It kind of spoils the excitement when watchmen call out a contact and I go up to have a look and there is a ship 19 kilometers from me that I really can't see, but the crew can identify just fine. And more frames insn't bad either.

You could always try adjusting the sensors cfg /Fog . Find it in data/cfg/sensors . I am trying at 0.9 .

Hi sober,

you are speaking about this lane:

Visual fog factor=0.75 to change with Visual fog factor=0.9

if i play with the sensors cfg/fog what exactly change that in game?

the distance that i can see a ship in fog or the distance that the watchmen call out a contact in fog?

Thank you!

sobers & stoianm base fog mechanics V8 SH5
Smell the heavy fog .

Install after any other environment mod containing Env\FogDistances file .
Install with the mod enabler JSGME anytime , either in port or on patrol .

Version 8 , adjusted the fog distances to have the proper distances . No fog etc has a view of 15000mts and you can see smoke on the horizon .
Heavy fog gives a real sense of fog , you can almost smell it .
