Default What the hell happened to my Binos

Since starting to use GWX my binos on the deck have no internal markings on them...you know the ones that tell you what heading you are looking at?

Is there a fix for this?

The UZO (U key) has bearing markings in them.

It was not historically accurate to have those markings in Bino's. They were used for ship spotting and looking at details. Just mouse wheel up and down to zoom in and out to get a reference to bearing. You can then use the (-) key to center the Bino's on the bow, or (=) to change the boats heading to the bino's bearing.

But if you insist on it, there is a fix somewhere. It was recently discussed in another thread, but somebody should link the fix for ya.

Open Data/Menu/menu_1024_768.ini. Scroll down to [G27 I5].

Change

Mat 0=data/menu/gui/bearing2.tga

to

Mat 0=data/menu/gui/bearing.tga.

Thank you so much for the data change, I understand the history bit but it makes life a bit easier playing the game to use the markings

Cheers guys, and as usual...THANKS for the help

There is a mod which replaces the blank compass lines with a simple eight or sixteen compass point one. If you would prefer this, I will try to find it.
I think this is realistic as anyone on the bridge would know about where he was looking, but most certainly, not the exact bearing.

That's actually an excellent solution, I think I may have to try that.

Already did the edit in the relevant file, but will check this out for another option, thanks!

You're welcome, but credit goes to DanLisa, who took out the degrees in the first place. He left the original in there, and posted the solution. I merely shortened his post to the bare bones.

Funny thing is, I long ago used a mod that put the bearing lines back in, and used his explanation to take them out again.
