I have a computer running Windows Vista 64 bit, will dangerous waters work on it?
And would you recommend I get it? Last edited by ERPP8; 02-06-10 at 02:58 PM. |

Hi ERRP8,
my machine is vista 64 and Dangerous Waters is running well, but many other people had problems. DW is still the thing to buy if you want to sim the cold war era on a advanced to pro level. As there are no new projects to come in the near future (I hope I'm wrong with that) you should get it. But be sure not to be succesful in the beginning as you need a lot of training to get in the game. Keep playing one platform in the beginning until you get really comfortable with, then advance your skills in some of the many great mission at http://subguru.com Then switch to another platform and do the same. I recommend you get the mods Lwami and/or DWX_OPFOR installed as they bring in the most realisitc settings and many new driveable platforms. Also its good to get some theory before/while playing. There are some really well done guides of all kinds you can get a lot help of. Have a look at the site mentioned above and here http://www.commanders-academy.com/index.php Another site from poland with a group of gamer payling regulary online missions: http://dangerouswaters.pl So, get it and have fun! |

Vista x64 here works like a charm
![]() And I would recommend anyone who had a slight interest in modern naval combat and modern submarine warfare to get DW. It's the only one out there. With supermod such as Alfa Tau, LWAMI or DWX makes it even more interesting. DW is the only sim I've installed that comes without a dynmaic campaign in it. It's a testament that despite the lack of dynamic campaign it has got a long shelve period to me and I'm not foreseeing myself uninstalling it in the near future especially that the updated DWX is coming out.

ok, after having subcommand years ago, and being burnt out currently on all the silent hunter series im thinking of getting dangerous waters...after reading this thread it should install to my vista enterprise 64 bit no problem...
my question is, for these mods mentioned are you using jsmge or just installing over the game? |

Im using it without trouble on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. The only annoying thing is the activstion of the voice control of windows whenever I start DW. I recommend to go through the initial process of setting up the Voice control in windows once and afterwards only the small control box will pop up anymore and not the request to go through the whole initialization process.

Don't install it in the default place in the folder Program Files. UAC intervenes (in Vista and 7) when you want to mess about in the scenario folder adding or changing files with the scenario editor. (or add mods later) Install the game in something like C:\Games\DangerousWaters and you'll be fine.
