Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL), a former intelligence officer for the U.S. Navy, told The Cable, "The 2007 NIE was a mistake," and this document appears to be more realistic. He urged the intelligence community to take a less technical and more comprehensive look at the Iranian leadership's actions when making such judgments.

The last thing it needs is politicization of intelligence materials and analysis. Temptation is certainly there.

Frankly speaking imo North Korea poses a more urgent attention than Iran. Contrary to what Israel would like the US to believe

On the scale of the more lunatic nuclear powers we have Pakistan and India followed way way back by Iran. And Iran doesn't even have the bomb yet.

Spoken about Iran and intel, i cant find what ships Iran intended to send to the med. Despite of the political statemant of having balls and nerve, i had like to know what size of balls they want to put in the bucket.

Last night Iran stated it would push on with the deployement of ships in the MED

It was one of those 1960s British made frigates and a supply ship I think.

That would be a smart move. The Kilos with the standard diesel do 600 nm on the snort. So supply is needed. But it does hoist a red flag on the subs location....

Iran's official Fars new agency, quoting top naval commanders, said the ships are the 33,000-tonne refuelling and support vessel Kharg and the 1,500-tonne light patrol frigate Alvand, both British built.

The Kharg has a crew of 250 and can carry up to three helicopters. The Alvand is armed with torpedos and anti-ship missiles.

According to Fars, the ships form part of Iran's 12th flotilla, which is normally assigned to protect Iranian merchant vessels in the Gulf of Aden, an area plagued by Somali pirates.
