Default Servers down. Molotov Party at ubisoft? [Merged]

So their servers are down, AGAIN. Can't log on to play my game. Do their tech support drown in their coffee? Have they no back-up servers for just this event?

Rage.

"Guess who died on the bus today..doodah doodah!!"... Ahem, whoops... err hello!!!.

Would somebody like to film the backroom scenes in UBI's server room in moments like these.. I'd really like to see the panic and pain they've caused themselves.

This gets me thinking what a realy 'bad business model' that this is, that UBI adopted.

First of all, people who see UBI as opposition (and there probably many), would encourage/turn a blind eye to attacks on UBI DRM servers.

UBI, to save money, has probably extended their IT employees duties to include the DRM servers. This could be streching their staff capabilities which will result in resignations, resulting further in lower expertise... and more DRM server downtime.

With the final result is that nobody will touch DRM games/servers. Once again UBI has shot themselves in both feet.

They seem to be going in the right direction of making games more moddable, but 1 step forward, and with DRM 2 steps backward. The pirates don't have to do a thing except sit back and watch the circus.

Everything would have been fine, had Ubi done this:

Install game with first time online authentication

Then for each DLC I buy/download - like a new sub, new ships, towns, landscapes, vehicles, planes and what not - I gladly authenticate again.

Like Microsoft do with Windows and other programs....

SHV is a story of missed opportunities... imho...

Yeah. Truthfully I think they had the right idea with SH5 conceptually (RPG + Sim in an effort to grab a larger audience - only way this genre was going to survive IMO), but they lowballed it with (im assuming) a limited budget, really short development and QA time, and then saddled it with a DRM scheme that made PC gamers the world over angry. So what could brought sub sim's back into the public mainstream, instead put the final nail in the coffin.

Just my opinion.

Well, that's the price we pay for being stupid enough to buy games with DRM's like this
