Default Flower class wheely problem

Is there an issue in GWX with the Flower class escorts blowing their own ass off when depth charging? A couple of patrols ago I noticed a flower class sitting way down by the stern but refusing to sink and still making slow headway. I was pretty sure I'd hit it with a magnetic torp so was pleased enough.

Fast forward to tonight and I've just attacked a large convoy in the air gap in very heavy seas. After the first bang a couple of Flowers and a Black Swan closed on me and began dropping cans as I evade deep and quiet. During the attack I see one Flower forced to throw it into reverse to avoid a zigging merchant, back onto the DC explosion. I laughed. After all the hassle is over I surface some distance away and find both Flower class boats trying to catch up with the convoy while pulling huge wheelies.

The first one was explicable, but the second? I think in the heavy seas, the Flowers are so slow that they sink themselves when they attack. Anyone else seen this?

Yes, once in fact, I read quite recently the story of a Flower class, certainly not that she went to the bottom of their D / C but definitely worth reading,

In shallow water I've watched many escort's blow themselves up from their own depth charges. The captain's stupidity in (his lack of knowing how to) accelerating is one of the few things you can use to your advantage in shallow waters/inside a port to blow one up without using an eel (or if you're out). It is tricky but you need to work yourself into position such that he makes his run and drops his charges and is forced to abruptly stop (either a wall or ship becomes his immediate obstacle) and he'll blow himself up in a mater of seconds.

In RL this was a serious issue. Before damaging their own ship, they would often damage their ASDIC leaving them only with passive acoustics. These do not work well with speeds above 15 knots, so best way is to stop the boat and listen. The new problem; speed will be low when dropping regular DC.

The hedgehog was a great solution for this (and other) problem.

So that it happened in the game is not wrong. Would be different if it happened all the time. Also, its more likely to experience this in the early stages of the war. Your talking about homing trops, that’s just the beginning.... of the end

I find that armed trawlers tend to do this, especially if you go a few meters above periscope depth (but still fully submerged) and go slow enough so that the trawler can't turn in a tight enough circle.

Very heavy weather can have a detrimental effect on smaller vessels and the reversing onto its own depth charges to avoid a collision is self explanatory.
