Default Hello from a newbie!

Hey everyone, jumped into SH3 about a week and have a couple questions if you don't mind.

1. I'm using GWX3 and I desperately want to use SH3 Cmdr with it, trouble is I can only find ver 2.7 and GWX3 needs version 3 or better, 2.7 wont even update from the auto updater (as I'm sure you know). Does anyone have a good link for the most recent SH3 Cmdr please, because I can't find one anywhere.

2. Completely unrelated to my previous question - I feel competent enough to have started my 1st partol. I'm commanding a type IIA sailing out of Kiel, tasked with patrolling grid AN52. My plan is to park my boat as close to the coast as my partol will allow and hopefully pick up traffic as they head into Newcastle or southern Scotland without exposing myself by activly searching.
Is this a sound plan, or should I be actively searching for targets - maybe further away from the coast?

Thanks for reading and happy hunting!

hi Tinman
try this site from JoneSoft:

1.
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/ then click generic mod enabler. download version that is there then do an update - check for a newer version. i have the 3.2.0 203 version. hope this helps or contact JoneSoft in the same tab just below generic mod enabler.

2.

dont get too close to land. you will not be able to dive very far to avoid detection and escape. stay further out in shipping lanes. 20 miles out perhaps. mines are also a problem as the war progresses.

other ideas/suggestions will be along soon

welcome aboard

1. - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...do=file&id=733

2. go there and see what happens, maybe your plan works, Herr Kaleun. If not - decide to try your luck elsewhere - it's your job.

Welcome aboard.

2: Unless you are going to do a port raid (wouldn't recommend using a duck for something like that) stay clear of the port itself, except for Gibraltor (which has a steep cliff just outside the subnet) all the ports are shallow water; something which you should generally avoid whenever possible.

Lying in wait 10-20 km outside the port is good as already suggested. Be careful though, you might run into a inbound convoy with its escorts still in tow. Unless you manage to sink the ship immediately you run the risk of not getting the chance for any credit. Normally when you're attacking a convoy and a ship's propulsions dies you just leave it be and come back for it later to finish off with the deck gun.

Since the port you are camping is the destination, once the ships arrive there the wounded ship will just disapear. Conversely if you hit a tanker right it the sweat spot and it blows up with just 1 eel you'll still get credit; even if 2 or 3 minutes later all the rest of the ships disapear.

Good to know about the disappearing ships, would hate to be caught out by that.
After trawling through 5 pages of Google, I've come to the conclusion that SHcmdr is no longer available higher than the version I have at the moment. If anyone is willing to email me or perhaps temporarily host their own copy, I would be most grateful.
