Hello Borgneface

You don't need to patch the gold edition, it contains the latest update 1.5, so you are secured

I am playing the stock version, so I can't help you with the mods, but there are many others to help you and give you advise.

Happy hunting

Default Welcome aboard!

You'll find lots of threads discussing the pros and cons of RFB vs TMO etc.

RFB and TMO adjust the gameplay (plus some bug fixes and graphic enhancements) whereas RSRD adjusts the campaign layer etc to provide a more historical campaign (i.e. ships and TFs in the right place at the right time).

I'm running TMO with RSRD and couldn't be happier. The enemy AI can be a challenge (some say too much, LOL). Others prefer RFB with RSRD. I doubt you'll be disappointed with either. If you are an experienced SH3/GWX player then I'd suggest the sooner you move from SH4 Stock the better.

RFB is Real Fleet Boat. It is a good all-around mod, updating a lot of things and adding realism to the experience.

RSRD: Run Silent Run Deep. This is a campaign mod that makes the fleet and convoy movements much more realistic. It is vital to use with RFB.

TMO: Trigger Maru Overhauled. A great mod that adds realism, plus making the enemy a little more expert, because if it was exactly like real life then we'd already know how to beat it.

GFO: Game Fixes only. Is devoted to fixing problems without changing the game itself.

FOTRS: Fall Of The Rising Sun. Don't know much about this one.

OM: Operation Monsun. The only major supermod for u-boats in SH4. There are things I would like to see added, but overall it's very good as it is.

There are four main SH4 forums:

Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific: Forum for regular SH4 - American fleet boats.

SH4 U-Boat Missions Add On: For discussing anything to do with u-boats. Actually this is a sub-forum of the SH4 forum, so is a little harder to find.

SH4 Fleet Boat Mods Workshop: For Pacific mods.

SH4 ATO Mods: For u-boat mods. 'ATO' is an American term meaning 'Atlantic Theater of Operations'.

That's really all there are.

Default Fun...get em all

The fun thing about the mods is that you can't do without any of them.
You don't want to try mixing too much, so why not get them all and try a new one for each new patrol of your campaign?

If you begin in port, you can change the mod package before doing any pre-mission changes to the boat.

Arrive in from patrol and save. Change mods. Reload and sail off and enjoy the new look and feel.

Default Naval Academy

S! As you must have guessed...have been a long time GWX3 player (and still am) I have all this questions tghat suddendly come to me! Sorry *

In SH3/GWX....once you had done the naval academy, you could when starting a new carreer etc.... Just change the data in the "Naval Academy " data to have all the credit without passing it all over again.
Is this also possible in SH4? If so which filme is it ? Been looking for it but no success!

Thanks again for you help & patience

I'm not sure, but I don't think the academy actually gives you anything in SH4. If you've played SH3 then you don't really have any reason to run through the academy.
