At least in SH4, when you load a saved game, you don't see this:

I thought I might actually have a chance to finish a career before you updated things... <sigh> Seriously, welcome back to the ranks of us SH4 players.

Bump.
Yup, I gave SH5 another go. Conclusion. Fully rendered interiors and more crew interaction is really nice, but that's all it seems to offer at this point in time. Rest of it is under developed by way of comparision to SH3 and SH4. So then, i decided to take a trip down nostalgia lane and install SH3. I even D/L and installed GWX3. I loaded the game ONCE on the gibralter mission and noticed 2 things that reached up and grabbed me by the nuts 1.) SH3's loads slower then old people fornicate. My grandpa drives faster. Hell, molaysis in january drips faster then SH3 loads a single mission. 2.) Having an LCD monitor, running at 1024 X 768 resolution sucks. Everything looked fuzzy and smudged. Not as crisp and clear as i remembered it. So then i loaded up SH4 again, and i recognized one major thing about it. As a platform, it is the best compromise between SH3 and SH5. - It has better graphics then SH3, though not as great as SH5, but its well enough. - As a simulation, It has more functional details then SH5, though a bit less then SH3. - I think It loads faster then SH3 and SH5. Insert Goldilocks and the three bears metaphor here. |

ahoy,my 2 cents...
havent tried SH5 yet, i doubt my rig could run anything newish anyway, therefore,SH4 4 life! if you're feeling ambitious, i would suggest a uboat mega mod and call it ducimus' "grey wolves of the atlantic"- what the add-on should have been called in the 1st place. |

Nooooooo.
I'm not modding. Just because i'm giving praise to SH4, isn't saying i'm going to mod anything. I need to give it a break for awhile so i'm fresh enough to play it at some point. If i was to mod anything for uboats (and i have given it thought multiple times), i would limit myself strictly to the Type 9D2. I do not have the energy for multiple boats. (you have no idea how much of a PITA it is to apply a change or mod accross 6 different submarines and 3 different interiors) |
