I never understood how the entire fleet was abandoned after just one accident. but the 747 are still flying and they were invovled in some very notorius accidents

I'd bet the operating cost per flight hour of the Concorde is considerably higher than a 747. As old as they are I bet they were maintenance pigs.

I think they've had some other "issues" that aren't as widely known as well. I remember about 15-20 years ago reading they were having problems with part of the rudder coming apart in flight. It happened to three or four of them before they got a fix for it.

You're right, they were pigs, and expensive tickets. But I dont recall ever being short on passengers. Even with those ticket prices
