I'm so sick of this glitch! Often during a campaign I've had a destroyer come within maybe 20km or so of me, without detecting me whatsoever, however they get "stuck" in a full rudder tight circle at a constant ~10km distance for days, or even months.
When I say stuck, I mean it...they stay at that constant distance even if I go towards them or away from them. I can surface and enter TC while traveling, it doesn't matter. For weeks ingame the destroyer is still there at the same distance when I go back to periscope depth to check sound contacts. Just now I had a few destroyers "stuck" out there 10km from me while I attacked an unescorted convoy at night. While finishing off some ships with the deck gun, the destroyers that had been stuck for about a month appear on the horizon out of nowhere full steam to help the convoy. They had absolutely no business being there in mid Atlantic if it wasn't for the glitch. I hope this gets fixed in the patch, or that someone can correct it in a mod if not. end of rant. |

Common problem sadly, but easily fixed. Either simply save and reload or get more creative.

Had it happen a few times.
Usually you can head away from them at high speed submerged if they're close and their crazy spinning will mean you can get out of visual/gun range. Then you can just steam away on the surface until they despawn. At flank speed they can't really keep up with you. Silly bug though. |

You're wrong on this point, it does exist.
When I first encountered the glitch, I external-viewed and shift moved the camera until I found it. Real as ever. And furiously turning in a full rudder turn, just as my hydrophone indicates. Additionally, the situation I described in my post proves its actual existence as well. I was in the middle of the atlantic, attacking an unescorted convoy, with the only warship contacts being my "stuck" contacts. I figured they would stay "stuck" throughout. Instead, they finally broke their pattern and came charging at me while I was surfaced. Yes, they are quite real. My sub is sunk to prove it. I see where you're coming from, they do not *seem* real just because their behavior is so "glitchy". But they are actually there, and that is what makes this glitch so frustrating, considering a situation as which I described. |

Last time I sunk 5 DD's stuck on me by driving them to shore. I didn't even know about them until I did a crash dive trying to avoid a bomber. Indeed, very annoying bug and if it happens in the middle of Atlantic, save/load is the only way to get rid of them.

Man, your sub is a real love boat
![]() Don't hurt their feelings leaving them "grounded"
