TDC question.

Hi All,

Not really specific to SH5 but I thought I'd ask anyway.

How did the TDC pass data to the torpedo? I'm intriegued as to how it actually worked. How did the torp 'know' to turn 30 degrees left after being fired and the like. Did the data from the TDC go to a man in the torpedo room, who then manually did something to the torpedo to program it, or was it something more technical than that?

Just wondered if any of you guys out there knew,

Cheers!

Mostly deals with the American TDC, but the concept is the same:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torpedo_Data_Computer

"The TDC performed the trigonometric calculations required to compute a target intercept course for the torpedo. It also had an electromechanical interface to the torpedoes that allowed it to automatically set the torpedo courses while they were in their tubes, ready to be launched."
