Default Patrol zone I can't reach

September 1943, Brest, VIIC, I get assigned to patrol GF19. I leave harbor and plot the course. I know it is a long patrol so set speed at 8.5 - 9.0 knots (best fuel efficiency) and ask the navigator for range to end and max range at current speed. There is no possible way I can make it that far and get back. I would run out of fuel about 1000 km's from base.

I just scrapped it and went hunting southwest of england for single merchants (convoys with 5-6 destroyers seem to be my demise by this time in the war).

Has anyone else experienced unreachable patrols?

I'd suggest to try out "WBs Decks Awash and Fuel Economy Mod", as it adjusts speed to the wheather-conditions. in heavy seas e.g., you will only travel at about 6-7knots.

second thought: aren't there Milchkühe available on the way home?

Default Refuel

GF19? That's way down there...not too far from the southern tip of Africa. I know a Type IX could make the trip. As for a Type VII.....? I agree, even with maximum fuel conservation, you'd be pushing the envelope. The re-supply ship at the Canary Islands might still be there in Sept 43'. If it is, you should be OK...if not...?? If you are using GWX...you will not get a penalty and lose renown for patrolling your assigned area. I rarely "follow" the patrol orders. I go where I please....

Probably...but, I've run into a few "problems" where fuel was definitely an issue after some time. And besides...I'm not into "easy". A little apprehension and challenge in maybe running out of fuel makes the game more fun..

I may have been able to make it there and back but thought that if I had to chase down any targets I would be done. I would have to hope they showed up right in front or I would have to let them go in order to complete the patrol.

GF19? In a VIIC?
Forget about it.
My IXB is pushing it to go that far.
That's IXC territory. (Nothing down there anyway.)
BDU should know better.
And out of the 1. Flotilla too?!?!
They messed up your orders.

I can't understand your problems guys.
2 times i've reached Penang (!) without refueling on VIIC without any mods.
The medium speed was of cause very slow 6-7 knots.
