I noticed from the image in the rear part of the uboat, something looking like anchor chain is hanging from the ceiling. I wonder what that is.

Thats the after torpedo room... has one tube. The chain is the block and tackle used to lift the torpedo from its loading bed and whinch it into the tordepo tube....
