"I'm against spam"

"..send mass private messages...it's a little bit of a more private approach"

*rack rack*

Season open yet?

Looks easy as wiping one's rear end, if you'll pardon my phraseology. Point-click-edit-send.

With a bit of luck his system might have blew up in his face shortly after recording that diatribe

What I don't get is why is anyone paying them to do this? Surely they must realize that the effectiveness of this form of advertising is about nil.

Spambots are bloody obvious to spot, especially when they use gibberish names.

Anyhow I say kill the people who pay for the spammage, that will stop it.

Thing is, google bases its search results on the number of links to a site.
So let's say you're the proud owner of a site selling real prada bags for only $10 (), you want your site to be on the top of the list if someone types "prada handbags" into the google searchbox. One way to do that is place links to your site all over the web, google thinks your site must be an absolutely great place and places you at the top of the search results.

Agreed, and Google needs to do a lot more to weed out spammers and crapsites.

How much extra work is a forum operator tasked with to prevent such pollution? Some forums get carpet bombed with ads, others, like SUBSIM, are clean as a whistle. Hey Neal, do you use Irish Spring or something?

I've built some serious anti-spammer protection into this forum, plus I have 50 guys and moderators helping me watch all new members.
